Molecular Pathology Fellowship
Led by director George Jour, MD, NYU Langone’s Department of Pathology offers a one-year post-residency fellowship position in molecular and genetic pathology. Our fellowship is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
Molecular pathology fellows gain hands-on experience in a variety of solid and liquid neoplasms and constitutional genetic diseases. This is achieved through rotations at NYU Langone Ambulatory Care Center East 38th Street; Clinical Genetic Services; Microbiology Laboratory; Center for Human Genetics and Genomics; and Perlmutter Cancer Center High-Risk Program clinics.
Our fellowship trains well-rounded molecular genetic pathologists who have the medical and laboratory knowledge and expertise to assist both clinicians and patients. In addition, we provide a nurturing environment for clinician–scientists who are interested in pursuing translational research or bioinformatics research.
Faculty in pathology and other areas provide fellows with support and mentorship, and fellows participate in and facilitate intradepartmental, interdepartmental, and interinstitutional research collaborations. Fellows are expected to submit a research platform, oral presentation, or poster for the annual meeting of the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP). They should also finish a manuscript or submit their research for publication in a scientific journal by the end of the fellowship. Our program includes one month that is blocked off exclusively for fellows to work on research activities.
We encourage fellows to attend the AMP review course in preparation for the molecular genetic pathology board exams.
