Health Evaluation & Analytics Lab
The mission of the Health Evaluation and Analytics Lab (HEAL), a joint initiative of NYU Langone’s Department of Population Health and NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, is to develop and improve strategies that enhance healthcare value and advance population health. We conduct and support applied research to help healthcare and community-based organizations deliver services that significantly improve outcomes.
Central to our lab is a large dataset called the New York State Medicaid claims file that we built to support research focused on the most disadvantaged New Yorkers. We use these data for much of our applied research, and we make the dataset available to researchers across our institution and at other universities and organizations both in and outside of New York state.
HEAL is directed by James R. Knickman, PhD, clinical professor of population health at NYU Langone and the Robert Derzon Clinical Professor at NYU Wagner, and builds on the broad research experience of John Billings, JD, professor at NYU Wagner, and Todor N. Mijanovich, PhD, research associate professor at NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development.
We have two locations in Manhattan: 180 Madison Avenue and NYU Wagner at 295 Lafayette Street. For all inquiries, please contact Kamila Kiszko, MPH, program director, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 646-501-3875.
