Description
This elective is designed for the student interested in learning about the inpatient psychiatric evaluation and treatment of children from 2 to 12 years of age. The elective student will be exposed to a wide range of child psychopathology, including disruptive behavior disorders, adjustment disorders, affective disorders, and schizophrenia. This unit, in addition, provides a therapeutic nursery for autistic children, which is a unique learning opportunity for trainees. The student will gain an understanding of the treatment techniques used with children and their families through closely supervised opportunities to provide patient care, including individual and family therapy.
