Hematology & Medical Oncology Fellowship Application

We accept applications to NYU Grossman School of Medicine’s three-year combined Hematology and Medical Oncology Fellowship through Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) only. There are six available positions for academic year 2024–25. Applications for the 2024–25 academic year are accepted beginning in June 2023. You can download the application from the ERAS website until mid-August 2023. The official fellowship start date is July 1, 2024.

We also require the following documents, if applicable:

  • medical school transcript
  • photo
  • dean’s letter
  • three letters of recommendation, including one from your residency program director
  • U.S. Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) transcripts
  • Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) status report
  • personal statement

All interviews will be held virtually throughout September and October. Applicants will be notified via ERAS notification no later than September 15, 2023, if they are or are not selected for an interview.

Our program does not offer a prematch. All positions are offered through the National Resident Matching Program.

Additional Requirements for Applicants

Our program does not have a cutoff year after graduation from medical school. Although we do not have a minimum USMLE score requirement, our program is highly competitive. The average score of our applicants is typically 230 for USMLE Steps 1 and 2. USMLE Step 3 is not required for application to our program, but it is required for a New York State medical license, should you match with our program.

Admissions Information for International Students

Clinical experience in the United States is preferred but not mandatory. We accept international medical school graduates, but we do not sponsor visas or offer H-1B sponsorship for house staff, residents, or fellows. J-1 sponsorship is available through the ECFMG. You do not need to be ECFMG-certified to apply to our program, but you do need to be ECFMG-certified before being offered an interview for our program.

Orientation and Housing

New house staff attend general orientation sessions at NYU Langone’s Tisch Hospital and NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, as well as a Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology orientation, where they meet faculty and other house staff and prepare for their first days of clinical duties.

Housing information and forms are available. If you have any questions about housing, email housing@nyulangone.org.
