The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at NYU Langone Health is one of the largest orthopedic surgery departments in the country. Our department is not only deeply committed to patient care, but also to education and basic, clinical, and translational research, with prestigious programs in all areas.
We offer educational opportunities for medical students, residents, fellows, and visiting orthopedic surgeons from the United States and around the world. Our educational programs include the oldest, largest, and one of the most esteemed residency programs in the country. We provide training in all of the major subspecialties of orthopedic surgery:
- adult reconstructive surgery
- foot and ankle surgery
- hand surgery
- musculoskeletal oncology surgery
- pediatric orthopedic surgery
- primary care sports medicine
- shoulder and elbow surgery
- spine surgery
- sports medicine
- trauma and fracture surgery
Through our research programs, our physician–scientists create and discover treatments, techniques, and devices that improve the lives of people with a wide range of orthopedic conditions. Our patient safety and quality research projects yield discoveries that help improve patient outcomes while boosting efficiency.
Our highly skilled surgeons continue to blaze new trails and solve complex cases in collaboration with other specialists across our academic medical center, performing more than 20,000 orthopedic procedures each year.
