Division of General Surgery
Faculty in NYU Langone Health’s Division of General Surgery specialize in the most advanced surgical treatments of conditions of the gastrointestinal tract as well as intra-abdominal infections and hernias and emergency surgery.
Our surgeons are renowned for their expertise in minimally invasive techniques, such as robotic surgery, laparoscopy, and therapeutic endoscopy and have pioneered new applications for these tools and techniques.
General Surgery Education
NYU Langone’s two general surgery residencies are a major academic responsibility of the division:
Each is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and offers world-class training in a wide range of surgical subspecialties.
Progressive responsibility is the key element of these programs, with surgical decision-making and responsibility taught in clinical and didactic settings. We stress the scientific method with an emphasis on evidence-based decision-making in clinical surgery and the pursuit of new knowledge in clinical studies and in the laboratory.
Our division also offers an unaccredited Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship. This program provides exceptional training in the minimally invasive treatment of benign foregut and abdominal core health conditions.
General Surgery Research
Our faculty members conduct important research that investigates and introduces new surgical techniques and technologies and aims to improve quality of care.
Our commitment to excellence in the field begins with ensuring residents, fellows, and medical students receive the highest-quality education available. We offer a Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship through the Division of General Surgery.
