Policies and Procedures

Our policies and procedures manual, NYU Langone Health Policies and Procedures for Human Subjects Research Protection, details not only the policies and regulations governing research with human subjects, but also the procedures for submitting research proposals for review. These policies and procedures apply to all research involving human subjects when NYU Langone faculty, staff, students, or facilities are involved, regardless of sponsorship or performance site.

Accreditation

NYU Langone’s Human Research Protections was the first institution in New York City to be awarded full accreditation by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP). AAHRPP re-accredited our program in 2021, indicating that all of their review standards had been met, a significant achievement for any HRP in the country.

Federalwide Assurance

The Federalwide Assurance (FWA) for NYU Langone has been updated and approved by the Office for Human Research Protections at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Under the FWA, we commit to the DHHS that we comply with the requirements set forth in 45 CFR Part 46 as well as with the terms of the FWA. The FWA number is important to note when submitting proposals for DHHS, foundation, and industry support.

The FWA number for NYU Grossman School of Medicine is 00004952, with an expiration date of May 6, 2026.

The FWA number for NYU Long Island School of Medicine is 00000726, with an expiration date of May 19, 2026.

The FWA number for the Sunset Park Health Council Inc., doing business as Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, is 00002634, with an expiration date of April 15, 2026.

Fees for Commercially Sponsored Research

The Administrative Fee Schedule for all industry-sponsored projects has been updated and is effective December 1, 2020. Institutional Review Board (IRB) activities that incur fees for industry-sponsored research include new reviews, continuations, modifications, reportable events, and study closures.
