Every scientist in the department of Cell Biology works in one way or another on an essential aspect of cell behavior. Active areas of research include cell polarity and cell-cell communication, cellular stress response, mitochondrial function in health and disease, signaling pathways involved in development and tissue homeostasis, nervous system function, stem cell biology, immune response and cancer. Along with ongoing research, the faculty are also engaged in the instruction of medical and graduate students at the NYU School of Medicine.
