Mentoring Workshop for Educators
NYU Langone’s Office of Mentoring and Faculty Development guides departments in launching and maintaining mentoring programs that support their efforts to recruit promising new faculty, develop and retain outstanding junior faculty, and propel career advancement. Our programs are implemented across the institution and are tailored to many career pathways. This workshop is specific to medical educators.
Teaching with Technology: Applying the Science of Learning to Medical Education
Our educators expressed the important need for faculty development in teaching skills that include the effective integration of educational technology. Building upon evidence and advances in teaching and learning, educators are able to adopt meaningful and effective technology-enhanced education practices in this workshop that includes the following praxes:
- list foundational ideas of evidence-based educational practices including cognitive science and adult learning
- analyze educational gaps in learning using audience response system or survey engine technology
- design clinically relevant learning experiences using technology in meaningful ways
- design assessment and evaluation protocols using various technologies
The workshop highlights faculty experiences and success stories; provides a hands-on session using NYU Grossman School of Medicine educational technologies that support case-based learning, active learning, and flipped classroom format; and explores workplace-based teaching and assessment. Participants also have the opportunity to consult with experts on existing or planned educational projects.
CME credits are available, and a certificate is presented upon successful completion of the course. If you’re interested in the course or have questions, please contact So-Young Oh, MA, MS, project manager for curriculum development and digital learning, at So-Young.Oh@NYULangone.org.
