The Department of Medicine’s eight-week Summer Research Program takes place between your first and second years as a student at NYU School of Medicine.

To choose a research project, which is supervised by a faculty mentor, browse our list of ongoing summer research projects (Kerberos ID required for login) and research concentrations. In addition to completing and presenting research, you work one half day each week in a related clinical setting.

Those who wish to continue their project or engage in new research after the summer may consider pursuing a scholarly concentration as part of their MD degree or participating in the Honors Program.

How to Apply

To apply, you identify a research mentor and write a one-page proposal that details the framework for your research project.

The Department of Medicine’s Summer Research Program committee reviews all applications. A total of five students are accepted each year and receive a stipend to work as a research assistant within one of our divisions.
