Division of Neuropsychology

NYU Langone Health’s Division of Neuropsychology offers clinical expertise in neuropsychological evaluations and treatment planning. Our division also has a rigorous research program and is devoted to training the next generation of clinical neuropsychologists through a one-year externship program for graduate students and a two-year postdoctoral fellowship. We also train predoctoral interns through a rotation offered by an NYU Grossman School of Medicine–NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue internship program in clinical psychology.

All of our neuropsychologists are board certified or board eligible through the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology (ABCN). Through neuropsychological assessment, we assess neurocognitive and neurobehavioral abilities comprehensively across the life span, from early childhood to older adulthood.

Our neuropsychologists identify precise profiles of neurocognitive strengths and weaknesses essential to medical, surgical, and rehabilitation treatment planning, and generate recommendations to maximize patients’ overall functioning. For example, we determine whether a patient’s symptoms could be related to a disorder such as mild cognitive impairment or dementia, monitor cognitive recovery after stroke or brain injury, perform pre- and postsurgical assessment of neurocognitive/neurobehavioral functioning, and identify neurodevelopmental consequences of childhood neurological, medical, and genetic conditions.

Under the leadership of division director Christina Morrison, PhD, our clinicians perform neuropsychological assessments in a wide range of patient populations. We also conduct intracarotid amobarbital (Wada) tests and brain-mapping procedures in conjunction with preoperative evaluations for epilepsy and tumor treatment.

We also offer forensic neuropsychological consultation expertise in independent medical exams (IMEs) and criminal and civil cases.
