Division of Pediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes
Specialists in the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at NYU Langone Health diagnose and treat hormonal disorders and conditions caused by abnormalities of the endocrine glands. Division members provide expert clinical care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with endocrine disorders, including diabetes; train the next generation of physician–scientists in this subspecialty through educational opportunities for medical students, residents, and fellows; and advance pediatric endocrinology and diabetes research.
The board-certified pediatric endocrinologists at the Pediatric Diabetes Center, part of Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone, work with nurses, nutritionists, social workers, child life specialists, and other health professionals to provide clinical care with a patient- and family-centered approach. Members of the division’s faculty regularly serve on committees for national endocrine societies, such as the Pediatric Endocrine Society and the Endocrine Society.
Division experts diagnose and treat a wide range of endocrine disorders, including diabetes mellitus; hypoglycemia; growth problems such as short stature; thyroid diseases such as congenital hypothyroidism; delayed or precocious puberty; pituitary disorders; polycystic ovary syndrome; adrenal disorders such as congenital adrenal hyperplasia; neuroendocrine disorders; disorders of calcium metabolism such as osteogenesis imperfecta; and lipid disorders. NYU Langone is a New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH)–designated treatment center for congenital hypothyroidism and an NYSDOH-designated center for congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
The division’s access to state-of-the-art laboratory testing and imaging facilities allows team members to make rapid diagnoses, and their expertise means they can create the most effective treatment plans for patients.
