Faculty Development at NYU Langone
NYU Langone Health is committed to fostering the professional development of our faculty. Our Faculty Advance program is designed to encourage professional development in science and medicine for NYU Langone Health academic junior and mid-career faculty. A range of presentations facilitate constructive and didactic conversations to inform faculty of academic realities and help them navigate academia toward fulfilling their career aspirations.
Faculty Advance: Highlighting Pathways to Success
Incoming Faculty Orientation
These events are held twice a year and are to give a warm welcome to new hires. Orientation provides faculty with an opportunity to meet leadership, network with colleagues, and get a brief overview of resources available to faculty.
Conversations with NYU Langone Health Leaders: “The Roadmap”
To be held twice annually, these evening panels provide leaders with a forum to describe their “roadmap” and personal pathways, challenges, successes, and failures in achieving their accomplishments. Panels and speakers include leaders in science, hospital administration, clinical care, and education.
What It Takes Networking Sessions
These small group sessions occur four times annually and provide an opportunity for leaders to offer their views on diverse topics including what it takes to succeed in science; how to get noticed for the next leadership role; why careers may not move forward as planned; and coping strategies for successful work–life integration. Small groups allow for an informal discussion and the opportunity for questions and answers.
