Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender People in Medicine
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender People in Medicine is a student interest group that promotes the welfare, representation, and visibility of LGBTQ+ students and patients. We strive to leave our school an even more inclusive and welcoming place than we found it.
We offer interview skills workshops that address gender and sexual identity and behavior, advocate admissions policies that value diversity, and encourage greater inclusion of LGBTQ+ health in our curriculum.
We participate in opportunities to draft more inclusive employment and patient policies by participating in LGBTQ+ councils at our affiliate hospitals. We also identify faculty mentors for LGBTQ+ students.
Our events include dinner lectures and movie nights that expose students to new topics in research, clinical practice, and LGBTQ+ history; social events with LGBTQ+ student groups from other area medical schools; and New York City outings for new NYU Grossman School of Medicine students.
We also represent our school at conferences and area events, including GLMA Annual Conference on LGBT Health, the LGBT Health Workforce Conference, the AIDS Walk, and NYC Pride. For more information, or to join, contact Samuel Dubin at email@example.com.
