Internal Medicine Residency How to Apply

How to Apply

We participate in the National Resident Matching Program, also known as The Match. We only accept residency program applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), run by the Association of American Medical Colleges.

For the current 2024–25 recruitment season, our program will continue to use the ERAS supplemental application to aid in the holistic review process. Applicants to our program are asked to complete the supplemental application, including the use of program signals. Program and geographic signals will be used when reviewing applications and issuing invitations to interview, but will not be used in the final ranking of applicants.

We have the following requirements for our residency program:

  • A passing score of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1 before applying and USMLE Step 2 before graduating from medical school and starting residency. Our program does not have a minimum score requirement.
  • Letter written by the Chair of the Department of Medicine at your school. (If you are applying for a preliminary year, we will accept a letter from the chair of your specialty of interest in lieu of the Department of Medicine Chair letter.)
  • Two additional letters of recommendation
  • International Medical Graduates must have graduated within the past three years and have at least one year of clinical experience practicing direct patient care in the United States. Observerships do not qualify.
  • International Medical Graduates must have Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification at the time of application.
  • The Clinical Investigator Track requires a secondary application which can be found here.
