Neuroscience Institute Journal Club 2014 Articles
In 2014, Neuroscience Institute postdoctoral fellows and graduate students published their research results in leading scientific journals.
Journal Club 2014 Highlights
Our researchers devised a new method to record genetically and morphologically identified neurons throughout the brain; created a neural interface device called the NeuroGrid that records action potentials of cortical neurons without penetrating the surface of the brain; demonstrated the powerful effect of maternal stimulation on the brain development of infant mammals; elucidated the underlying mechanisms through which sleep creates new synaptic connections between neurons, facilitating learning; and confirmed that heterogeneities in the local field potential signals in the hippocampus provide information about an animal’s location.
