Description
This elective provides an intensive experience with an adolescent population; gives the student an opportunity to work as part of the adolescent health care team and allows the student to participate in several unique clinical programs that include: the Adolescent Perinatal Program, the Norman Thomas High School based clinic, Adolescent mothers and babies clinic, and the Adolescent Gynecology Clinic.
Objectives of the Elective
This elective will provide the student with an intensive clinical experience issues that impact the health and well-being of adolescents.
Key Responsibilities of the student while on Elective
1. Full participation in clinical and/or adolescent advocacy projects five days per week.
2. One presentation or case report submitted during elective.
Didactic Program
Weekly case conference prior to clinical sessions. Individual teaching sessions based on clinical material.
Method of Evaluation
Evaluations are based on student's clinical work and student's presentation or case report.
Scheduling Information
Months Offered: Jan-Feb, Apr-June, Sept, Nov
Report To: 9AM at 403 E. 34th Street, office 401, 4th floor, New York, NY 10016 (the building is at the corner of 34th and FDR). Please confirm location with Dr. Coble 1-week prior to the start of the elective.
