Community Building for Diversity & Inclusion SEED Mentoring Program

SEED Mentoring Program

The Supporting, Educating, and Enriching Diversity (SEED) Mentoring Program strives to enrich the academic, professional, and personal development of students from diverse backgrounds. Created in 2014 by members of the Student Diversity Initiative (SDI), this innovative mentoring program creates individual, small family, and large family opportunities for mentorship across all levels of training and specialties. The SEED executive board and NYU Langone’s Office of Diversity Affairs, in collaboration with the Institute for Excellence in Health Equity, is excited to present an enhanced SEED Program that includes additional leadership: four lead attending mentors.

The goals of SEED are to provide professional and personal development, as well as academic enrichment opportunities, by building mentorship families for medical students, residents, fellows, and attending physicians. Mentees and mentors gather throughout the academic year to discuss topics relevant to diversity in medicine, to provide inclusive spaces for open dialogue, and to foster a community of support in addressing and navigating the unique challenges faced by students of diverse backgrounds.
