Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship

Our accredited three-year fellowship training program prepares trainees for a career in academic pediatrics, with a strong emphasis on excellence in clinical care, teaching, and productive and independent research.

The first year of the fellowship is devoted primarily to clinical training and education, and the second and third years are primarily devoted to research activities with continued training in the outpatient and continuity aspects of the field. Because of the strong academic and research activities of NYU Langone Health, fellows are exposed to a stimulating environment in one of the top children’s hospitals and research universities.

The mission of the Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship is to develop physicians who are clinically competent in the diagnosis and management of children, adolescents, and adults with gastroenterology diseases and related conditions; have acquired skills and knowledge to succeed in an academic healthcare setting; and possess habits of lifelong learning to build upon their knowledge, skills, and professionalism.

Our training program plans to provide future pediatric gastroenterologists with a foundation to become competent clinicians, researchers, and teachers.
Our philosophy is

  • to teach clinical medicine stressing physiologic principles for diagnosis and therapeutic decision-making in pediatric gastroenterology
  • to integrate basic science learning and teaching into clinical instruction
  • to provide opportunities to participate effectively in teaching, delivery of information, quality improvement, and system-based practice
  • to teach the basis for scientific research and investigation, study design, data analysis, and reporting of study results
