Child Study Center—New Jersey Clinical Psychology Externship
The Child Study Center—New Jersey offers two externship positions at our location in Hackensack. This externship contains four clinical training opportunities:
- a combined externship experience in delivering treatments for children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder who have organizational skills deficits and training in the treatment of children with selective mutism, which will be provided by Richard Gallagher, PhD, director of the Organizational Skills and Executive Function Treatment Program
- training in the delivery of comprehensive dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) for children and adolescents, which will be provided by Giselle Colorado, PsyD, DBT service coordinator, Child Study Center—New Jersey
- training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety, disruptive behaviors and OCD/compulsive habit disorders, which will be provided by Justin R. Misurell, PhD, site director of the Child Study Center—New Jersey
- training in evidence-based group therapy for youth, which will be supervised by Corrine McCarthy Seltzer, PsyD
In addition to these clinical training experiences, externs also have opportunities to conduct school observations and consultations and will be trained in game-based cognitive behavioral therapy for childhood anxiety and disruptive behavior disorders. All interventions involve extensive opportunities to work with individuals, their families, and professionals in their schools.
