The mission of the Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC), a part of NYU Langone’s Leon H. Charney Division of Cardiology, is to foster novel, interdisciplinary research in basic, translational, and clinical cardiovascular sciences. Our researchers are investigating cardiac development and diseases ranging from congenital conditions in children to acquired illness in adult patients such as congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and atherosclerosis.

A major goal of the center, located in NYU Langone’s Science Building, is to facilitate the interaction and training of basic science and clinical researchers in an environment focused on innovation, collaboration, and excellence.

Under the leadership of Kathryn J. Moore, PhD, center director, basic and clinical researchers are tackling fundamental and translational questions relevant to human disease using technological platforms in genetics and genomics, high-resolution and dynamic imaging, high-throughput screening, and bioinformatics.

Our center has established key partnerships with NYU’s Therapeutics Alliances to foster industry relationships and NYU Langone’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute to accelerate the translation of discoveries into new approaches for the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Our goal is to improve quality of life by ensuring that our discoveries are available to patients at the earliest opportunity.

Faculty Recruitment

Integral to our center’s success is the recruitment of new faculty to complement and expand existing research areas. Ideal candidates are physician–scientists or basic scientists with exceptional records of achievement who are tackling fundamental and translational questions relevant to human disease. We are especially interested in innovative programs in the areas of heart failure, human and experimental genetics, immunometabolism and stem cell and regenerative medicine.
