Environmental Exposure and Analytical Chemistry Laboratory Services & Fees

At NYU Langone's Environmental Exposure and Analytical Chemistry Laboratory, advanced mass spectrometry is used to perform comprehensive analyses of environmental exposures. We bring extensive experience in targeted and nontarget analysis of biofluids, environmental samples, and passive sampling devices including silicon wristbands. Targeted analyses are ideal for quantifying specific contaminant classes with high sensitivity and precision. Nontargeted analyses are valuable for pilot studies and discovery-phase research, identifying unknown chemical exposures across samples or between experimental groups. These complementary approaches allow nontargeted findings to advance to targeted validation studies for confirmation and quantification.

Our targeted analysis services cover multiple compound classes across different matrices. In urine, we routinely qualify:

  • Organophosphate Flame Retardants (OPFRs)
  • Bisphenols (BPs)
  • Phthalates (PhMs)
  • Glyphosate and AMPA
  • Creatinine (*always recommended for data normalization*)
  • Cotinine
  • Oxidative Stress Biomarkers (OSBs)

In serum and plasma, we quantify:

  • Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAs)

Fees

We offer analytical services at competitive rates. Pricing depends on project specifications and institutional affiliation and is subject to change.

Researchers affiliated with NYU Langone can use their Kerberos ID and password to log into iLab for pricing information. If you're new to the system, we have provided iLab login instructions for NYU Langone Health, NYU, NYU College of Dentistry, and external users.

Sample Compatibility

Our laboratory has expertise across diverse sample types. We specialize in human biomonitoring and routinely analyze human biological matrices including serum, plasma, and urine. We can also accommodate environmental and other sample types. If you have an uncommon sample matrix, we can conduct feasibility studies to assess compatibility with our analytical workflow.

Project Support and Consultation

Our laboratory team can assist with experimental design. We also support grant applications with letters of support, preliminary data, facility descriptions, method validation documentation, and other materials.

Contact our laboratory to discuss your project before submitting samples.
